ABOUT US
The Fondazione Casa Museo di Antonio Gramsci is a non-profit participatory foundation established on 14 December 2016 through the initiative of four founding members: the Fondazione Enrico Berlinguer, owner of the House Museum; the Gramsci-Paulesu family, direct descendants of Antonio Gramsci and Teresina Gramsci Paulesu, owners of the collection of objects that belonged to Gramsci; the Fondazione Gramsci; and the Municipality of Ghilarza.
The Foundation’s registered office is located in Ghilarza, at Corso Umberto I, 57, within the Antonio Gramsci House Museum. All institutional roles are carried out on a voluntary basis.
THE MISSION
The primary mission of the Foundation is to promote, enhance, develop, and ensure public access to the House Museum under its care. To this end, the Foundation oversees its management and contributes to the growth of its collections, including through new donations.
The Foundation also promotes initiatives aimed at disseminating and enhancing the figure and thought of Antonio Gramsci, drawing upon and sharing the results of national and international research across different social and cultural fields. It encourages dialogue among scholars, researchers, and institutions around the world that contribute to the study and interpretation of Gramsci’s thought and work. The Foundation organises educational activities, courses, seminars, and conferences exploring Gramsci’s life, thought, and intellectual method. These initiatives aim to foster dialogue on the contemporary relevance of his work in today’s social and cultural context, in partnership with schools, universities, institutions, and organisations. Sviluppa scambi culturali con altre istituzioni aventi finalità simili alle proprie. The Foundation also develops cultural exchanges with institutions pursuing similar aims.
THE VISION
The Foundation aims to promote the House Museum as a living and dynamic point of reference for historical memory, critical thought, and intercultural dialogue. Its goal is to highlight the contemporary relevance of Gramscian thought as a tool for interpreting present-day reality, while fostering an international network of exchange and reflection.
The aims of the Fondazione Casa Museo di Antonio Gramsci, together with its assets, founders, institutional participants, governing bodies, and financial and administrative management procedures, are defined in the Foundation’s Statute.
